Feral Cat Colony Data Project

Must be based in the USA

*******

Help Furever Feline Cat Rescue (FFCR) revolutionize the way we care for feral cats while protecting the environment.

FFCR is developing The Hawk—an innovative, mobile feral cat feeder designed to reduce waste, improve tracking, and streamline care for feral cat colonies. This cutting-edge solution will help us support both our feline friends and the planet more efficiently.

To secure grants and drive data-informed decisions, we need detailed research and statistics—and that’s where you come in!

What You’ll Do:

We’re looking for passionate volunteers to help us gather and organize key information related to current feral colony care methods, including:

  • Plates, tins, and plastic used per day

  • Bags of dry food, cans of wet food, and water bottles/jugs used daily

  • Miles driven per day (including for supply runs)

  • Microchipping practices

  • And other relevant metrics that reflect the day-to-day operations of colony management

  • Track and update this information in our Excel Worksheet

This data will help us compare the current environmental and logistical impact to the future benefits of using The Hawk.

What The Hawk Will Help Us Achieve:

With the data you help collect, we’ll be able to demonstrate and quantify goals such as:

  • Tons of waste diverted from landfills (paper, tin, plastic)

  • Increased bulk purchasing to reduce single-use packaging

  • More cats fixed, microchipped, evaluated

  • Cats relocated home or adopted when appropriate

  • Food banks funded with cat food and vet vouchers

  • Fuel savings by reducing volunteer trips to colonies

  • And much more!

Why Volunteer With Us?

  • Make a tangible difference for animals and the environment

  • Be part of a forward-thinking rescue project

  • Join a friendly, remote-based team of cat lovers

  • Gain experience in data gathering, grant support, and environmental sustainability

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Detail-oriented and organized individuals

  • MUST know Excel

  • Comfortable with online research and data input

  • Passionate about cats, animal welfare, or environmental protection

  • Able to commit at least 5 hours per week

  • Pre-completion OPT students welcome!

We are looking for multiple volunteers to join us and help make this project a success.

Interested?

Please email us with a brief note about yourself and your resume.
