Research Volunteers Wanted - Feral Cat Colonies

 Must be based in the USA.

This Volunteer Position is a time commitment and can accommodate OPT Students.

Must have amazing communication skills and be able talk to people who do not want to give us this information.

 Furever Feline Cat Rescue is gathering information on feral cat colonies in the United States.

We have a huge list of groups that feed these colonies and we need to gather all sorts of information from them.

This volunteer position is google searching, emailing and calling.

Engineers - Hardware, Software, Embedded / IoT Engineers, Data & Cloud Engineers, UX/UI Designers

Who We’re Looking For:

Hardware Engineers

Prototype feeding mechanisms using motors and sensors

Integrate components like RFID scanners and power systems

Design for outdoor durability and portability

Bonus if you're located near Portland, Oregon — that's where our first prototype will be built and tested.

 Software Engineers

Program feeder logic tied to chip IDs and feeding schedules

Interface with sensors, cameras, and backend APIs

Help build the volunteer-facing dashboard for remote monitoring

Embedded / IoT Engineers

Write firmware for microcontrollers (e.g., ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Arduino)

Handle real-time control and sensor data

Set up remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates

Data & Cloud Engineers

Build and manage databases for cat profiles, feeding logs, and footage

Enable remote access, backups, and alerts

Explore analytics to identify lost or unregistered animals

UX/UI Designers

Design intuitive, volunteer-friendly interfaces

Visualize animal activity and feeding patterns

Create onboarding flows for non-technical users
